Blogging about blogging
January 9, 2007
4:15PM at the Inman conference…Sellsius Joe (who, it turns out, does not actually have a white powdered wig, despite what his avatar may suggest) is on a blogging panel along with Richard Nacht of Blogging Systems, Noah Rosenblatt of UrbanDigs.com, and Doug Heddings of TrueGotham.com.
The room is surprisingly empty…only about half full.
Memorable quotes:
Doug: “A year ago before starting my blog, I would often compete with several other brokers for listings. Now, quite often, I’m the only one being interviewed. It’s because the potential client has already read my blog and knows about me.
Noah: “I did three deals directly from the blog last year, and right now I’m working with four clients, with several more in the pipeline.”
Richard: “Primary benefit is not search engine optimization, but rather networking.”
Joe: “Self-promotion on the Internet doesn’t really work, so you have to be subtle about it. Educate your clients, don’t sell to them — they’ll appreciate that.”

Great quotes regarding blogging. Networking & lead generation are definitely two of the larger benefits to joining the blogosphere (sorry Rudolph-I know you hate the word). And the quote about focusing on educating clients is spot-on. It sounds like the conference is time well-spent.
I look forward to me first client interaction as a result of blogging. I enjoyed some of the posts I read at years end on how blogging affected peoples’ business. I should be able to pick Patrick’s brain on Thursday at the San Ramon Realtors Marketing Association on the NYC Connect.
Fun Day at Inman’s RE Connect…
I had a great time participating on the blogging panel at Inman’s RE Connect Conference and although Kevin from 3 Oceans reported from the second "end of the day” session that it was only half full, the afternoon session was……
[...] Getting a post up before Sellsius (Granted, Joe was in the panel, and sitting up front without a laptop, but hey, I’ll take any advantage I can, fair or unfair!) I didn’t mean to imply in that post that nobody was interested in the session — as a few people pointed out, I attended the re-run, but the matinee was packed. [...]
Inman Connect updates…
Two comments - 1) for the real estate bloggers, the conference is like a penpal reunion with faces being attached to authors - what a congenial bunch, and 2) the Inman Connect conference has been so productive, I have had no time for posting articles…
