Blogging about blogging

January 9, 2007

4:15PM at the Inman conference…Sellsius Joe (who, it turns out, does not actually have a white powdered wig, despite what his avatar may suggest) is on a blogging panel along with Richard Nacht of Blogging Systems, Noah Rosenblatt of UrbanDigs.com, and Doug Heddings of TrueGotham.com.

The room is surprisingly empty…only about half full.

Memorable quotes:

Doug:  “A year ago before starting my blog, I would often compete with several other brokers for listings.  Now, quite often, I’m the only one being interviewed.  It’s because the potential client has already read my blog and knows about me.
Noah: “I did three deals directly from the blog last year, and right now I’m working with four clients, with several more in the pipeline.”

Richard:  “Primary benefit is not search engine optimization, but rather networking.”

Joe:  “Self-promotion on the Internet doesn’t really work, so you have to be subtle about it.  Educate your clients, don’t sell to them — they’ll appreciate that.”
