Right now current developments are so interesting, when internet became a player it was predicted that RE agent would not be needed. Curbed might start asking for referral fees and there will be agent buying into this. I am curious to see what will really happen since face to face contact is still the most important. I don’t think that is going to change, no matter what Curbed does. And I do agree, Realtors that are technology ‘challenged’ will have to adjust…

Staten Island Real Estate — I’m purely speculating here. As Curbed’s traffic grows and it develops a trusting relationship with its readership, why not have “Curbed.com-approved Realtors”? Even anonymous commenters may eventually have real estate needs, and they might be inclined to use such a Realtor.

Interesting post indeed. I really doubt Curbed will begin selling leads. I love their site, talk to the editor quite often, and really don’t see it happening (not that we discuss these things). I just don’t think it is their “bag baby” (say that like Austin Powers).

My prediction, they ramp up, go to other markets, hire new writers, but doubt they’ll start slinging leads.

Excellent post/video, Kevin. Very insightful.

I’d be interested in knowing more about the web traffic to the “market info” sites/blogs. Specifically, what percentage consists of brokers, agents, bloggers, and other non-potential buyers/sellers. Care to guess?
