Making Realtors’ Lives Easier with Docusign
January 23, 2007
A few weeks ago I was in Seattle and had the chance to visit with Kevin Connor of Docusign, the electronic signature provider I use. I shot some video of our conversation as we discussed what industries Docusign addresses, and how Docusign helps real estate transactions go more smoothly.

What other companies do stuff like this? I know about alamode’s SureDocs, which is free (for now anyway). Does it compare?
What others are out there? You can do a google search on “electronic signature software” to see others who may do it more like how you want it done.
Not sure about SureDocs, haven’t used it. My understand is it’s a Document repository only, with no capability of e-signatures. I could be wrong.
Honestly, I haven’t really evaluated any other solutions. Docusign has had its occasional quirks, but for the most part it’s been wonderful for me.
They’re developing a new version which will have some really innovative features that will make a number of things much easier to do.
Just thought you’d like the latest news about DocuSign:

I know you use them or a similar program, but our MLS expressly prohibits electronic signatures at this time.
I’m sure it will happen sooner or later though.
DocuSign is really ramping up! They just hired a strong CEO and have financing for the long run. Maybe the market for esignatures is taking off after all..

Lorenzini out as CEO, funding running short and time running out for Docusign. They need to retool thier business model and raise more money before May to survive.

Who will start the paperless revolution? It might be you….
If you don’t know Bradley Inman, chances are that you’re not involved in any industry relating to Real Estate, Title Insurance, Escrow, or Mortgage banking. And, that’s just fine – he’ll continue his crusade to reduce paper waste just the…
How do you handle counters and crossing off a price? Somebody showed me Docusign, but they couldn’t figure that out.
Frank
You use “custom tabs” or “custom tags.” ie. you put an offer through the system, then create a custom tag that says “Offer accepted, subject to terms of attached counteroffer”, then you drag that tag to the appropriate place.
I’ll try it.
Docusign’s customer service said:

It would seem pretty silly to me to be “paperless”, except for counters.

Hi Frank,
Docusign’s customer service may not understand how to use Docusign in a real estate context. Technically they are correct, but an easy way around that is to simply forward the document and make the changes during that forwarding process.
