Redfin and the Hound on agreement in something?
Both mavericks, and both advocates of transparency (when it comes to buyers’ commissions), but strong disagreements on transparency to buyers about what the real job of the listing agent is.

I’m not sure what the laws or traditions are in other states, but in Washington our pre-printed boiler plate Buyers Agency Agreements stipulate that anything over-and-above the previously agreed upon commission that the Buyer pays, goes directly to the Buyer anyway. This is one little-known benefit of having a Buyer’s Agency Agreement and a good argument to always use one. Obviously, an agreement such as this protects and helps both Buyer and Agent by spelling out the terms of their agreement and compensation, prior to writing any offers or even viewing properties.

Interesting, I like that. That certainly helps keep everything clean, transparent, and above board.
