It may have been just a coincidence — ie. perhaps the Googlebot planned to swing by for a visit at that time anyways, and it just happened that I had fresh new content up a few hours earlier.
However, this kind of thing happens often enough that I don’t think it is a coincidence.

Good Job, but don’t you think its possible because of the quality of your blog and the weight google rates it that it moved that fast.
Could this be done with a fresh blog?
Hmmmm, don’t know

I know for a fact it couldn’t be done with a fresh blog that’s still sitting in the Google Sandbox. When my blog was new, it would take the Googlebot a week or two, at best, to come for a visit, no matter how often and politely I asked. When it did visit, it tended to view my content with a more than a dash of skepticism.
